Mighty Oaks services include classroom-style preschool groups, small Floortime playgroups focusing on social interaction, and parent-child Floortime sessions. Like all our services, our preschool groups are also Floortime-based. Preschool groups include an academic curriculum delivered through hands-on, play-based activities following the educational model Suvi our Director learned in her native Finland.
We follow Dr. Stanley Greenspan's Learning Tree model. The Learning Tree Model integrates Floortime with academic skills. This model helps us understand each child's individual profile of strengths and weaknesses and to tailor the Individual Education Plan (IEP) to meet his / her needs. As the groups are so small and staff-student-ratio is so high, we can address the individual goals of the children in a group environment.
Children are grouped according to their developmental levels, needs, and abilities in order to maximize social interaction opportunities. While most children require a daily intervention and best results are achieved through high intensity, it is also possible to attend some of the groups 3 or 4 times a week.
